MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police have recovered a stolen gun they believe linked to a man shot to death by police in a south Minneapolis home in May.
Police say they found a 9 mm handgun in a sock later found to have Terrance Franklin's DNA on it hidden in a home a few blocks from where he was killed. The gun was reported stolen in a burglary the day before Franklin was killed.
Franklin was being pursued by police when he broke into an Uptown home. A struggle ensued in the basement, and police say Franklin grabbed a police weapon and shot and wounded two officers before being shot 10 times by police.
A Franklin family attorney says the family plans to sue in the next 30 days.
