ST. CLOUD, (KNSI) - Police have evacuated and blocked off parts of 29th Avenue North between Division and 1st Street in St. Cloud as they investigate reports of a suspicious package found in the area on Saturday morning.

Police Sergeant Jason Burke says the object in question is consistent with a possible incendiary device.

Burke says they're currently regarding the item as explosive, though that has not been confirmed.

St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Sue Stawarski tells KNSI News a bomb squad from Crow Wing County is en route to St. Cloud to assist in the investigation.

The area sectioned off is between Gilleland Chevrolet and CentraCare's Home Care Services building.

Police ask that you please stay away from the area, as this is an active investigation. Traffic on Division is not being affected.

Initial reports of the suspicious item were made between 10 and 11 am.

More updates are expected later this afternoon.

KNSI's Matt Wood assisted with this report.
