SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (KNSI) A firing range is coming to Sauk Rapids.
Tuesday night, the Sauk Rapids City Council approved a conditional use permit for the facility at 3409 Mayhew Lake Road. It will be more than 6,000 square feet in size. About half the space will be for an enclosed firing range, and the rest will be for retail space, along with room for an education and training center.
Council members approved the permit on a unanimous vote after first discussing concerns about whether gunfire would be heard by people who live in that neighborhood.
And the Sauk Rapids City Council approved an ordinance change that will allow the city to begin organized garbage collection in July. Allied Waste is the vendor chosen by the city. They'll deliver gargage cans and recycling cans to residents in late June, and then begin garbage pickup each Tuesday starting in July. Recyclables will be picked up every other Tuesday.
Thirty-four hundred households in Sauk Rapids will be served by Allied Waste.
