ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - A permanent performing arts stage will soon grace St. Cloud's Lake George Park.

Mayor Dave Kleis announced the decision today. He tells KNSI, the success of such events like Summertime By George inspired the decision to build a permanent platform to increase the amount of outdoor concerts, plays and other events.

Kleis says the stage, designed by Hagemeister and Mack Architects of St. Cloud, will include a pergola-style rooftop in the style of the park's current gazebos.

Cost is estimated at $260,000, and will be financed jointly by the city and the St. Cloud Rotary Club.

Construction will begin this fall, with a completion date in the spring of 2014.
