ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - Senator John Pederson has ended his bid for the 6th District.

In an e-mail sent on Friday, Republican Pederson thanked his campaign's supporters, but said running for the office had begun to take a toll on his professional and personal life.

"The priorities in my life have always been my faith, family and friends, my co-workers, and the wider community," Pederson writes. "It has become apparent to me that I cannot continue this campaign and still balance my other priorities in life. Because of this conflict I have decided to withdraw my name from the race."

Pederson was one of four members of the GOP who made bids to replace Rep. Michele Bachmann in the 6th District. Bachmann, a Republican, declared she would not seek another term in the US House.

Pederson says he'll continue to represent St. Cloud's Senate District 14.
