MARSHALL, Minn. (KNSI)  One person was killed in southwestern Minnesota Tuesday when a car and semi collided.

The State Patrol says it happened at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 23 and Lyon County Road 9 just southwest of Cottonwood. The semi was westbound on Highway 23 and the car was northbound on the county road when they slammed into one another.

Both the semi and the car burst into flames and were destroyed. Fourty three year-old Scott Glidewell of Ruthton was driving the semi. He was treated and released from a local hospital. The driver of the car was killed.

The Patrol says the name of that person will be released when positive identification has been made.
