FOLEY, Minn. (KNSI) Testimony continues today in Foley in the murder trial of Angelina O'Mara.
She's charged in the murder of her ex-husband--James O'Mara--in Sauk Rapids last year. She's also suspected of killing her boyfriend at the time--Michael Pies. He was found dead in a hotel room in Wisconsin.
Defense attorney Eric Newmark told jurors during openeing statements Wednesday that it was Pies who shot James O'Mara. He described Pies as an abusive alcoholic who was part of a love triangle that turned explosive.
Benton County Attorney Robert Raupp says Angelina O'Mara initially told investigators that her ex-husband and Pies were likely killed by motorcycle gang members, but later said she accidentally shot Pies as they were struggling with a gun.
Shortly after the killlngs of both men, she was arrested near Sioux Falls, South Dakota when her cell phone signal was traced to that area.
Her trial could last into late next week.
