MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) A Hennepin County grand jury has decided not to bring charges against two Minneapolis police officers in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man in May.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced the grand jury's decision Thursday.
Grand jurors heard testimony from 19 witnesses, including 11 sworn officers, about what happened in the basement of an Uptown Minneapolis home where Terrance Franklin was shot and killed.
Police officials have said Franklin fought with officers and grabbed one of their guns when shots were fired, killing Franklin and wounding two officers.
An attorney for Franklin's family has said the family will consider asking for a federal investigation and may also file a civil wrongful death lawsuit.
