ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for central Minnesota from 6pm Saturday through midnight Sunday. The warning DOES include the St. Cloud area.

Snow, which will be heavy at times, will spread across the region late Saturday afternoon and Saturday night, and continue into Sunday afternoon.

Forecaster say 5 to 8 inches of snow--with locally higher amounts--are expected with this storm. The highest accumulations are likely to fall northeast of Interstate 94.

Significant blowing and drifting will develop Sunday afternoon as northwest winds increase to 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 35 mph. Near blizzard conditions are expected in open areas, especially southwest of Interstate 94, where winds are likely to be the strongest. The blowing snow will subside late Sunday evening as the winds diminish.
