SAINT PAUL, MN (KNSI) - State transportation and safety officials say four bicyclists were killed in Minnesota last year -- that's the lowest number of bike fatalities since 2007.
However, MnDOT traffic engineers say that's still four deaths too many. MnDOT and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety are urging motorists to be cautious as more bicyclists join them on the road as the weather improves.
The DPS says most bicycle crashes occur during afternoon rush hours, and people under age 25 represent more than half of all bicyclists injured annually. .
From 2008 to 2010, 32 bicyclists were killed and more than 2,800 bicyclists were injured in Minnesota.
