ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Steve Notch has defeated Dave Gamradt in a special election for a seat on the Stearns County Board of Commissioners.

Notch picked up 1,117 votes in Tuesday's special election, beating Gamradt by 117 votes.

The election fills a vacant seat in District 5 in western Stearns County. The seat opened up when Don Otte died of cancer last year.

Notch is a township treasurer, and a member of the Freeport Fire Department. He's also a former Freeport city councilman.

He fills out the rest of Otte's term, which expires at the end of this year.
