ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Steve Notch of Freeport and Dave Gamradt of Sauk Centre were the top two finishers in Tuesday's primary for an open seat on the Stearns County Board of Commissioners, and they now advance to the January 28th special election.

Notch got the most votes in the five candidate field. He finished with 879. Gamradt was runner-up with 843. Brad Kirckof was third with 771 votes. Jeff Bertram had 737 and Alan Loch finished with 527 votes.

Notch is a former Freeport city council member who now serves as treasurer for Millwood Township. Gamradt farms in the Sauk Centre area.

The open seat on the county commission is for District 5, which covers the western half of the county. It opened up when Don Otte died from cancer in August.
