DEERWOOD, Minn. (KNSI) Two people managed to escape without injury after the ultra-light plane they were in crashed into Agate Lake in Crow Wing County.

Sheriff Todd Dahl the pilot--Richard Northburg of Deerwood--and a passenger--Justin Odle from Aitkin--were pulled from the water by citizens who witnessed the crash.

Northburg told deputies they were flying over the lake when the engine on the ultra-light stalled, causing them to crash into the lake.

Inspectors from the Federal Aviation Administration were contacted and are investigating the crash.
