ALBANY, Minn. (KNSI) Nine candidates have applied to become the next police chief in Albany.
City Administrator Tom Schneider says the application period closed Monday afternoon.
He says an eight-member search committee will meet next week to review the applications and select a small number of candidates for interviews. He expects those interviews will be done the week of March 18th.
The search committee will recommend their top candidate to the city council for final approval. That should happen by mid-April.
Albany has been looking for a police chief since Jason Falconer announced his retirement earlier this year.
The Albany Police Department has seven officers and one administrative employee.
