SARTELL, Minn. (KNSI) Sartell City Council member Sarah Jane Nicoll announced Friday that she will be a candidate for mayor this fall.
Nicoll is serving her first term on the city council, having been elected in 2010.
In a news release, Nicoll said, "I have decided to run for mayor because I believe so strongly in the future of this city. I was priviledged to grow up here and graduate from Sartell High School, and it's where I've chosen to raise my family, so I have a vested interest in ensuring this remains a strong community."
Nicoll previously owned and operated an insurance products and financial services business. She's now a stay at home wife and mother raising three daughters.
Sartell's current mayor--Joe Perske--is running for the 6th District Congressional seat being vacated by Michele Bachmann. Perske recently won the DFL Party endorsement at the 6th District convention in Monticello.
Tom Emmer is the Republican Party endorsed candidate in the 6th Distrit race.
