COLLEGEVILLE, MN (KNSI) - St. John's University's new president, Michael Hemesath, is now officially on the job, and students, faculty and staff welcomed him Monday by hosting an ice cream social in the Great Hall on the Collegeville campus.
The 53 year-old Hemesath graduated from St. John's with a degree in economics. He comes to St. John's from Carleton College, where he's been an economics professor and faculty president.
Hemesath's appointment was announced in early April. He's the first lay president the university has had in its 155-year history.
