ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - There are a few changes in the works regarding weekend parking in downtown St. Cloud.

The St. Cloud Police department says they're piloting a project that will restrict parking at certain times in the 10 block of 5th Avenue South beginning on Thursday.

According to Police Lt. Jeff Oxton, the restrictions will ban parking on either side of 5th Avenue beginning at 11 p.m. and lasting through 7 a.m., on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Additionally, taxi stands will shift to the northwest corner of 5th Avenue and 1st Street South, ending along 1st Street South.

It's an extenion of a ban already in place every day from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Oxton says the no-parking policy will be reinforced with permanent signage, and cars found parked in those spots could be towed at any time.
