ST. CLOUD, MN (KNSI) - The St. Cloud City Council has approved the first members of the new Transportation Infrastructure Advisory Board, a committee formed to review and recommend transportation projects.
"Transportation concerns are a big issue, so I thought it might be a good idea to put together a board that focuses on transportation itself. " St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis said on "Meet the Mayor" on the KNSI Morning Show Tuesday.
Along with an array of responsibilities, the board's chief responsibility will be preparing an annual plan that addresses St. Cloud's transportation infrastructure needs.
Kleis said the need for a board dealing specifically in transportation issues came as the result of public input from a city-wide survey.
"When we did our survey recently it came out as the top issue, " Kleis said, "One of our most critical issues is always infrastructure, how you get around. "
Members appointed to the board Monday include Brian Alsaker, Tama Theis, Bob Johnson, Hazel Youngmann, Steve Ludwig, Joan Vincent and Abdi Hassan. The board will hold monthly meetings.
