ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) St. Cloud police announced today that neighborhoods throughout the city will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 31st annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, August 5th.
National Night Out will involve over 16,000 communities in all 50 states and Canada. It's designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen police and community partnerships.
In all, nearly 38-million people are expected to participate in Amercia's Night Out Against Crime on August 5th. From 6 to 10 pm that night, residents of St. Cloud neighborhoods are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors and police.
Many St. Cloud neighborhoods plan speciall events like block parties, cookouts, youth activities and anti-crime rallies. You can register you National NIght Out activity with St. Cloud police beginning today by calling the Crime Prevention Unit at 345-4182.
