ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The 17 year-old Sauk Rapids boy facing multiple charges in a deadly assault in St. Cloud last month is due back in court today.
A probable cause hearing for Jesse Smithers is scheduled for 2:30 this afternoon in Stearns County District Court.
Smithers is accused of punching 20 year-old Colton Gleason in the face in an unprovoked attack in a St. Cloud alley on September 20th.
Gleason fell and struck his head. He died the next day at St. Cloud Hospital.
Smithers is charged with one count each of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and first-degree assault.
Smithers has another court hearing scheduled for October 30th, at which time prosecutors will seek to have him tried as an adult.
Smithers is being held without bail.
