ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) A busy 2013 road construction season is winding down for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

More than 300 projects were worked on around the state--with a combined cost of $1.1 billion.

MnDOT Commissioner Charlie Zelle says many of the projects are now complete. He says they, "provide safer, smoother roadways that are so vital to our state's economy and quality of life."

Projects in central Minnesota included the new 10 million dollar interchange at Highway 15 and Stearns County Road 120, and repaving 7.5 miles of Interstate 94 between Clearwater and St. Cloud at a cost of $16.4 million.
