DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — State transportation officials have closed a section of Interstate 35 in Duluth after an inspection found a deteriorating support piling.
The damaged piling is one of 38 that support a low bridge on the southbound lanes of the interstate. Minnesota Department of Transportation engineer Duane Hill says the piling was so corroded they could see through it.
Repairs are expected to begin Tuesday. Officials expect the southbound lanes to be closed for at least a week or more.
