GLENDORADO TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KNSI) - A Benton County child was found safe in a cornfield following an hour-long search Monday evening after the 2-year-old disappeared near his home, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Department.
The boy was reported missing from the home on 5th Street Northeast in Glendorado Township in southeastern Benton County at 5:47 p.m. Monday, Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett said. The caller told authorities the child had been missing for about 45 minutes.
While all the house belonging to Ann and Zachary Swenson had been checked as well as surrounding out buildings, the caller believed the boy may have wandered into a cornfield next to the home, Bennett said.
Benton County deputies began searching for the boy immediately, with the help of personnel from the Foley and Princeton fire departments.
After an hour of seraching, the boy was finally found by a Benton County K-9 officer in the cornfield about a half-mile away from the home, Bennett said.
The child was not injured.
