Minnesota to review pregnancy centers' information

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A pro-abortion rights group says state-supported pregnancy centers in Minnesota are offering inaccurate information about the procedure and its health risks.

NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota says it conducted its own undercover investigation by sending volunteers into the centers pretending to be pregnant. NARAL says the investigation found 73 percent of the centers claimed a link between breast cancer and abortion. The American Cancer Society says not such link exists.

The state Department of Health provides more than $2 million annually to organizations that promote alternatives to abortion. Deputy Commissioner Jim Koppel says state health officials will review NARAL's report.

The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/zjYI4D ) says the directors of the centers are defending the information they provide to pregnant women.
