MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) Two Minnesota teams have advanced to the national quarterfinals in the NCAA football playoffs.
Minnesota State beat Northwest Missouri State 38-35 in Mankato on Saturday to move on to the regional finals in Division II. The Mavericks (12-0) will host Missouri Western State on Dec. 1 at Blakeslee Stadium. Justin Otto intercepted a pass in the end zone in the second overtime, and Sam Brockshus kicked a 27-yard field goal for the win.
In Division III, St. Thomas beat Elmhurst College of Illinois 24-17 to advance. The Tommies (12-0) will host Hobart College of New York on Dec. 1 at O'Shaughnessy Stadium. Brenton Braddock had his third straight 100-yard game for St. Thomas.
Bethel lost 37-14 to Wisconsin-Oshkosh, the only other Minnesota team still alive in the postseason.
