ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota state parks and recreations areas are still offering lots of camping options for the Labor Day weekend.
The Department of Natural Resources says plenty of reservable campsites are still available. The DNR says six parks had at least 20 reservable sites available as of last week, while seven had at least 15 reservable sites open.
Reservable campsites are also available at other parks and recreation areas. And up to 30 percent of campsites are available first-come, first-served. Minnesota's 58 state forests, which tend to be less crowded, also offer camping and other recreational opportunities.
The DNR says Minnesota state parks will be offering a variety of naturalist-led programs for campers and noncampers alike during the Labor Day weekend, running the gamut from geocaching to stargazing.
