CASS LAKE, Minn. (AP) - A Cass Lake man who was allegedly infatuated with a married woman is charged with trying to kill her husband.
Prosecutors say 24-year-old John Ernest Lutgen had been infatuated with the woman for some time. They say he told her that her husband was an unfit spouse and father, and asked her to help kill him.
The woman told investigators she repeatedly turned him down.
She says she awoke early Friday morning to find Lutgen standing in her bedroom staring at her. The criminal complaint says she told him to leave and escorted him to the door, but he ran back inside and assaulted her husband.
A Minneapolis Star Tribune report says the husband suffered a fractured skull.
Online court records Saturday did not list an attorney for Lutgen.
