ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) Minnesota's unemployment rate in September was 5.8 %, a drop of one-tenth of a percent from August.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development says Minnesota employers added 5,900 jobs last month.

Those job gains--combined with revised figures for August--bring job gains in the state to 34,700 over the past year.

DEED says the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area showed 2.9% job growth over the past year. Mankato was up 2.1%, Minneapolis-St. Paul up 1.3%, Rochester one-half percent, and Duluth three-tenths of one percent.
