ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — Mayo Clinic Health System is eliminating nearly 200 medical transcription jobs in Wisconsin.
Mayo has notified Wisconsin employees that it will contract with Amphion Medical Solutions to handle the transcription services. Mayo expects to completely shift the work to the Madison, Wisconsin-based Amphion by Nov. 1.
The 188 jobs are in western Wisconsin where La Crosse and Eau Claire are hub cities. Mayo Clinic says it expects to save up to 40 percent by outsourcing the services. Last year, Mayo cut 82 transcription jobs in seven southeastern Minnesota communities.
