MARSHALL, Minn. (AP) - Marshall in southwestern Minnesota will host next year's Governor's Pheasant Opener.
The Independent of Marshall reports that although details have not yet been released, the second annual Governor's Pheasant Opener will take place near Marshall.
A spokeswoman for Gov. Mark Dayton confirms to The Associated Press that next year's Governor's Pheasant Opener will be held in Marshall and will coincide with the actual 2012 pheasant opener.
Montevideo hosted this past weekend's pheasant shoot with Dayton.
Marshall Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cal Brink says hosting the governor's pheasant opener will mean a boost for the city's economy.
Dates for the 2012 pheasant season haven't been announced but the season usually opens in early October.
