ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) Minnesota's unemployment rate dropped one-tenth of a percent in March.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development says the March jobless rate came in at 5.4 percent.

Employment analyst Steve Hine says the state lost 5,200  jobs during the month.

Job gains in February were revised downward to 9,900.

Hine says the unemployment rate improved in March even while the state lost jobs, largely because more people stopped looking for work.

Thursday's report shows the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area showed job growth of eight-tenths of one-percent over the past 12 months.
