WORTHINGTON, Minn. (KNSI) Mankato has been chosen to host the 2015 Minnesota Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener.
Governor Mark Dayton made the announcement over the weekend at the 2014 Governor's Opener in Worthington.
Mankato was selected through an application process that considered hunting land in the area, event facilities and community support. There are more than 9,100 acres of public hunting land within 20 miles of Mankato.
The four previous Governor's Pheasant Hunting Openers have been held in Montevideo, Marshall, Madelia and Worthington.
