FOLEY, Minn. (KNSI) - A wanted man, believed to be armed and dangerous, was arrested on a search warrant in Foley.
Benton County Chief Deputy Troy Heck says investigators with the Violent Offenders Task Force received information on the whereabouts of 34 year-old Clear Lake resident Jason Schwartzkopf, wanted on charges of fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle.
Recent investigations into Schwartzkopf, who is a prohibited person due to previous criminal charges, indicated that he was in possession of handgun and using controlled substances.
After gathering information, investigators performed surveillance on a home in the 300 block of 7th Avenue in Foley on Monday around 8 p.m. and spotted Schwartzkopf at the address.
Members of the Stearns-Benton SERT team were issued a search warrant and activated it under the assumption that Schwartzkopf was armed and dangerous.
Schwartzkopf was arrested without incident and taken to the Benton County Jail.
The Violent Offender Task Force, the Benton County Sheriff's Officer and the Foley Police Department assisted the Benton-Stearns SERT team.
