ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A man was arrested after allegedly leading police on a car chase that started in St. Cloud and ended in Sauk Rapids.

At around 9:45 Tuesday night police were engaged in a pursuit with a car on West Division Street heading west.

The car turned onto Highway 15 northbound and continued fleeing from police.

Other agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol, joined the pursuit.

The pursuit then went down County Road 1, and then up the hill in Sauk Rapids on the new section of County Road 3.

The chase ended just west of Highway 10 near the roundabout when an officer performed a PIT maneuver on the car.

The chase went 7 1/2 miles.

The driver has been identified as 35-year-old Andrew Wayne Morton, of Mora.

He was booked into the Stearns County Jail where he's facing charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, DWI and drug possession.

The man allegedly tossed drugs out the window during the pursuit, and officers could be seen collecting the evidence along Highway 15.

Police say they found what they suspect is methamphetamine in the vehicle, along with drug packaging.

The man indicated to police that he swallowed some methamphetamine, and he was taken to St. Cloud Hospital to be monitored.

A passenger, 31-year-old Stephanie Gregor, of Mora was also taken into custody.
