NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (AP) — A Good Samaritan showed "superhuman strength" when he bent the door of a burning SUV and rescued another motorist on a Minnesota freeway.

Fifty-two-year-old Bob Renning of Woodbury was driving Sunday when he looked in his rearview mirror and saw a vehicle behind him on fire on Interstate 35W.

Renning says he stopped about 200 feet in front of the SUV. Renning pulled on the SUV's door handle, but it wouldn't open. He saw Michael Johannes of Minneapolis pounding against the window.

Renning gripped the door frame, braced his foot against the door and pulled. The State Patrol says the door bent in half and the glass shattered.

Renning doesn't know how he was able to open the door. Johannes says he plans to thank Renning.
