NORTH BRANCH, MN (AP) - Authorities say a man shot dead by a Chisago County Sheriff's deputy ignored warnings to put two guns down, then lowered the barrel of one gun to point it at officers.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says authorities went to a house in North Branch Sunday night on a report that 46-year-old Robert Elias Aho had threatened his wife with a gun.

Officers arrived to find Aho's wife, sister and step-daughter left the house, but Aho was inside.

The BCA says Aho emerged with a rifle and shotgun.

Officers say he lowered the barrel of one gun and Chisago County Sheriff's Deputy Steven Gregory Husmann fired his weapon, striking Aho twice.

Husmann has been with the sheriff's office for nine years. He and other officers are now on administrative leave.
