MOTLEY, Minn. (KNSI) The Todd County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead, and several others injured after a collision between a semi and passenger train on Friday. It happened just before 2:30 on Red Rock Road in Fawn Lake Township.

Fifty seven year-old Donald Ray Hedlund Sr. of Bemidji was headed northwest on Red Rock Road. He failed to stop at the railroad crossing and was hit by the train, which was headed southeast. Hedlund was dead at the scene.

Two passengers on the Amtrak train had non life-threatening injuries and were taken to Lakewood Hospital in Staples. 

Staples Fire and Rescue and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
