LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (KNSI) - A lengthy investigation into heroin sales has landed a Little Falls man behind bars.

Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel says Christian Lindstrom was taken into custody on Wednesday after 8 months' worth of heroin purchases by enforcement officers.

Lindstrom is currently in Morrison County Jail, where he is facing possible charges of 3rd degree controlled substance crimes.

Wetzel says new reports from the DEA, along with observations by MN law enforcement officers, show heroin use and sales have risen dramatically in the last two years.

In a news release, Wetzel says, "We need more people to be sent to prison for heroin sales in order for use to realize a drop in its availability on our streets."

He says he believes too many offenders are receiving stayed sentences and short stints in local jails in lieu of prison, and thinks the trend will continue unless offenders start facing substantial prison time.
