ELK RIVER, Minn. (KNSI) - A former employee of a Zimmerman restaurant is in jail after allegedly stealing cash and other items.
Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says a new business called the "Whistling Pickle" reported the break-in on Monday, September 23rd.
There was no forced entry, but several flat-screen televisions, bottles of liquor and a few thousand dollars in cash were reported to be missing from a safe.
Brott says, on Wednesday, a person claiming to be the restaurant's owner tried to exchange one of the televisions at the Otsego Target store.
The actual owner of the restaurant watched security footage of the attempt, and identified the customer as 38 year-old Jason Camarena of Zimmerman, a former manager of the restaurant who had reportedly been fired but still had a key to the building.
Investigators gained a search warrant for Camarena's Zimmerman home and found the stolen items.
He was arrested without incident and booked into the Sherburne County Jail, where he's awaiting arraignment.
