ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A man was killed Friday afternoon after his vehicle went out of control and smashed into a St. Cloud school building.
Police Sergeant Jason Burke tells KNSI News officers and medical personnel were called to St. Katharine Drexel School at 428 2nd Street Southeast at 2:41 Friday afternoon.
Burke says the man was driving southbound on Wilson Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway, and after traveling approximately one block, struck the northwest corner of the school.
There were four adults in a room in that corner of the building at the time, but they were not injured.
The building received enough damage to cause concern about its structural integrity, so all students and staff were evacuated from the building.
The driver of the vehicle was unconcious behind the wheel. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Burke says based on their investigation, it's believed the man had a medical episode prior to the crash.
His name has not been released yet.
