SARTELL, Minn. (KNSI) Emergency crews from the Sartell and Sauk Rapids fire departments and Stearns and Benton County sheriff's offices were called to the Sauk River Monday afternoon on a report of a man who had gone into the river to rescue a dog.

Sixty one year-old Michael Lenarz of St. Cloud was found on a small island east of the County Road 1 bridge.

Both Lenarz and the dog were picked up and returned to the Heim's Mill canoe access. There were no injuries.
