CROOKSTON, Minn. (AP) - A man who got into a fight with police in Crookston allegedly stole a squad car then crashed into a pickup truck - killing the truck's driver.

Authorities in Crookston say the incident happened Saturday, when officials were called to Crookston VFW post for alleged property damage. When officers tried to arrest a suspect, he allegedly began fighting with police.

The Crookston Daily Times reports Sunday that police used a Tazer and pepper mace on the man, but both had little effect. He allegedly then stole a police car and got away.

The man was driving at a fast speed when he crossed the center line on Old Highway 75, hitting a pickup truck. The man driving the pickup died, and his passenger had injuries that were not life-threatening.
