MINNEAPOLIS (AP) A 34-year-old Minneapolis man is accused of organizing a dog fighting ring and breeding dogs in at least eight locations.
Leroy Longs Junior was charged Friday with felony animal fighting in Hennepin County.
According the criminal complaint, the animals had scarring "consistent with having been fought." Eighteen dogs, including five puppies, were seized in raids.
A search warrant executed at the home of Long Junior's children revealed he had a 240-page book on how to become a successful dog fighter.
Longs is in the Hennepin County Jail with bail set at $15,000. His first court appearance is Monday.
A woman who answered the phone Saturday at a number listed to Longs in Minneapolis didn't want to comment.
