COLD SPRING, Minn. (KNSI) A Cold Spring police officer shot and killed in the line of duty last night has been identfiied.

Tom Decker was killed while responding to a call for service to check on the welfare of an individual in Cold Spring.

Authorities say Decker was shot in an alley behind Winners Sports Bar and Grill.

The adult male suspect was arrested about an hour after the shooting at his apartment above the bar.

The Cold Spring Police Department website says Tom Decker graduated with a degree from Alexandria Technical College in 2002 with a degree in Law Enforcement. He worked in the cities of Isle, Watkins and Kimball before landing a job with the Cold Spring PD in March of 2006. Decker was a native of Cold Spring and a graduate of ROCORI High School.

A 34 year-old Cold Spring man--Ryan Michael Larson--was booked into the Stearns County Jail on a felony murder charge at 12:15 this morning.
