ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - A man is in jail, facing charges, after search uncovered 44 pounds of marijuana.
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force says the 8-month investigation into the dealings of 32 year-old St. Cloud resident Samlith Khongloth ended yesterday with an initial search of 2904 15th Street North.
Investigators say they observed Khongloth stop at the residence before getting into his vehicle. He was stopped a short time later to be arrested on probably cause charges for selling controlled substances.
During the arrest, investigators found a pound of marijuana and $6,000 in cash. He was taken into custody, and a search warrant was conducted at the residence on 15th Street North.
During the search, investigators uncovered a total of 44 pounds of marijuana, along with a handgun.
Authorities also determined that the home was not Khongloth's primary residence, and executed a search warrant at 1944 Knollwood Circle.
In the subsequent search, investigators found additional amounts of marijuana along with over $52,000 in cash. The cash, along with Khongloth's 2007 Cadillac Escalade, will be seized and sujected to forfeiture.
A woman, present at the home during the search, said she had no knowledge of the drug sales and is not expected to be charged.
Khongloth is expected to face 2nd degree sales of a controlled substance within a school zone, due to the home's proximity to North Junior High.
