BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) - One of the Mall of America's original anchor stores is closing.
Macy's Inc. announced Wednesday it plans to close the Bloomingdale's at the Bloomington mall early this spring. It's one of four Bloomingdale's around the country that are closing because of what the company calls underperformance.
A clearance sale will begin at the store Sunday and run for about 10 weeks.
The Mall of America Bloomingdale's opened in 1992. The three-story store measures 210,000 square feet and employs 127 people.
The mall says it has planned for the closing and is talking to new retailers to fill the space.
