ST. CLOUD, Minn (KNSI) The Minnesota Department of Transportation says major delays are expected on Interstate 94 east of St. Cloud beginning next week.
Starting Monday, both directions of the highway will be reduced to a single lane of traffic between Minnesota Highway 24 in Clearwater and Stearns County Road 75 in St. Cloud. MnDOT says the closures will occur intermittently from sunrise to sunset Mondays through Saturdays through December 1st.
Crews will be doing prep work for a major 7 1/2 mile resurfacing project on the Interstate between St. Cloud and Clearwater that will occur next summer. MnDOT says major delays are expected, and motorists should plan their travel accordingly.
Traffic forecasts show backups on westbound I-94 could exceed 20 miles during Friday afternoon and evening rush hour traffic periods.
