ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A benefit fundraiser is being held this weekend for the Minnesota-Duluth college student from St. Cloud who nearly died after spending a night outside in subzero weather last month.
The benefit for Alyssa Jo Lommel is being held Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm at the Blue Line South on Sunridge Drive in St. Cloud.
It will include a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and meat raffle, with all proceeds going to the Alyssa Lommel Fund that has been established at Bremer Bank.
Lommel suffered severe frostbite and hypothermia after spending a night in early December outdoors after she had been dropped off by friends after a night of drinking.
Lommel was wearing a jacket, but her hands were not covered. Temperatures that night dropped to 17 below zero.
