ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A local economist says St. Cloud area businesses are reacting favorably to the change of administration in the White House.

"You have this amazing surge in optimism in the future outlook of our local businesses," said King Banaian, on with KNSI's Ox in the Afternoon.

"And it seems to be tied to where they think the national economy is going."

In the Quarterly Business Report by Banaian and Rich MacDonald, Banaian says they asked area businesses a set of questions related to the change of administration and how it will affect tax policies and regulation issues.

"Businesses were much more optimistic that the change in Washington would be favorable and good for business nationally, so they think the door is swinging open to a better time from a point of time in which they weren't so optimistic about how things were going."

Banaian says local business leaders like the fact that President Trump thinks and talks like the business leader that he is.

Overall, Banaian says the local economic outlook remains strong for 2017.
