DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - The Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth has regained its accreditation.
The zoo lost its accreditation five years ago. But the new accreditation was announced Tuesday at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums conference in Atlanta on Tuesday.
The zoo's CEO, Sam Maida, and the director of animal management, Peter Pruett, were in attendance. In a statement, Maida calls it "a very happy and proud moment for everyone.''
WDIO-TV reports that zoo staff and community members have worked for years to regain the accreditation. Inspectors looked at the work earlier this year.
